Tennessee football is making final preparations for its Week Two non-conference matchup against North Carolina State. Both teams mostly survived Week One, but there are some injuries to consider heading into gameday.

Tennessee dominated its season opener against Chattanooga. Tennessee defeated the in-state opponent 69-3 as they kicked off the season inside Neyland Stadium.

The Vols will now look to its first ranked matchup of the young season with their Week Two matchup against North Carolina State. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 PM ET kickoff on ABC at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Tennessee injury report

Tennessee went largely unscathed in its win over Chattanooga. Edge rusher Emmanuel Okoye will miss the 2024 season after suffering an injury late into camp before the Chatt game. His injury shouldn't hurt Tennessee too bad, but it will be a blow to the Vols' defensive depth early in the season.

The Vols will add sophomore cornerback Rickey Gibson III to their gameday roster on Saturday. Gibson missed the season opener with a minor hamstring injury. Tennessee's secondary depth has been an issue in years past, so having Gibson ready to go could be a big help for the Vols' defense.

NC State injury report

The Wolfpack didn't survive their season-opening win against Western Carolina without suffering long-term injuries. NC State's starting safety, Devan Boykin, will miss Saturday's game and the entire month of September.

NC State is also returning a secondary defender after missing Week One. Nickel Ja'Had Carter will be ready to go for the Wolfpack and is expected to be 100% by Saturday.

It's never good when teams suffer injuries this early in the season. Both teams mostly survived Week One and will look to get out of this ranked non-conference game unscathed before both teams head into conference play. The Vols and Wolfpack will kick off at 7:30 PM ET on ABC.
