Darrell Taylor has been a part of the Seahawks' "new-look defense" since being drafted to Seattle in 2020. Future Hall of Famer Bobby Wagner has led that defense, but now he's off to the Commanders, and the Seahawks could look to Taylor to pick up some of the missing production this season.
In his three seasons in Seattle, Taylor has totaled 91 tackles and 21.5 sacks. He's only started 13 games but has played in almost every game for Seattle since entering the league. It is expected that Taylor will remain in a rotational role for the Seahawks this year but could continue building his game and earn a more permanent role at the top of the depth chart.
Taylor is competing for his job for the second straight season after signing a one-year contract extension. Seahawks' new head coach, Mike Macdonald, is expected to turn around the defensive struggles in Seattle, so it will be important for Taylor to prove that he can be an asset this year for the new head coach.
