Former Tennessee players are mocked to go in the later rounds of Pro Football Network's 2024 NFL Mock Draft. PFN has former quarterback Joe Milton, running back Jaylen Wright, and corner Kamal Hadden taken in this year's draft.

Vols head coach Josh Heupel has put a handful of former players in the NFL since coming to Knoxville in 2021. He's had a winning season in each of the three years he's been Tennessee's head coach, which has helped players get to the next level.

In PFN's mock draft, the first Tennessee player is taken off the board by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With the 92nd pick in the draft, through a trade with the Detroit Lions, the Buccaneers select Tennessee running back Jaylen Wright.

Wright would be joining current Bucs running back Rachaad White in the backfield with Baker Mayfield at the helm. As PFN's Owain Jones said, he is "lightning in a bottle. Possessing powerful, explosive acceleration, sudden change of direction, and the vision to make cuts, along with being a dynamic receiving threat."

The next Volunteer taken is corner Kamal Hadden, who is drafted by the New England Patriots with the 137th pick. This pick would make Hadden the second pick of the fifth round and the 18th corner taken off the draft board.

It is a new era in Foxboro, with former Tennessee Volunteer Jerod Mayo taking over head coaching duties after Bill Belichick and the Patriots mutually agreed to part ways. Getting Hadden in the building with a great defensive player like Mayo could help him step his game up at the next level.

The Kansas City Chiefs are the last to draft a Vol. With the 227th pick in the draft, the Chiefs select Joe Milton. This is my favorite franchise for Milton to go in this draft. Andy Reid's ability to develop quarterbacks throughout his career gives Milton a great opportunity to learn, develop, and be successful in the NFL.

This pick would also pair Milton with another VFL on the Chiefs' offensive line. Former Tennessee offensive lineman Trey Smith can help guide Milton through his first year in the league as he learns the ropes behind Patrick Mahomes.

Milton would clearly not be in line to start or get a lot of meaningful playing time if he were drafted by the Chiefs, but it could be the best-case scenario for his development as an NFL quarterback.

This year's NFL Draft starts on Thursday, April 25, and will be held in Detroit, Michigan, the new home of former Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker. We saw Milton alongside Hooker when the Lions drafted him, so we might see that again this year when Milton is drafted into the league.
