After going 8-4 during the regular season, the Tennessee Vols have the Music City Bowl to look forward to, but it's likely going to be the last game for Joey Aguilar with the SEC side. Aguilar transferred in from App State/UCLA, but the expectation is he'll be one and done.
3 Tennessee DC targets Josh Heupel must call after firing Tim Banks
While 5-star quarterback Faizon Brandon is on the way as part of the 2026 class, some veteran leadership is going to be needed for the QB room. Might that lead Josh Heupel and his staff to target someone via the transfer portal?
That's what plenty of Vols fans are hoping for and there's a new signal-caller to keep an eye on. That'd be Harvard's Jaden Craig, the program's all-time passing yards leader. Pete Thamel broke the news of Craig planning to leave Harvard this winter. Might Heupel connect with him once that happens?
Harvard quarterback Jaden Craig intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal, he tells ESPN. He’s Harvard’s all-time leader in passing yards (6,074) and touchdown passes (52). He’ll have one year remaining and will enroll at new school in January. pic.twitter.com/QDGZ4Pbn0U

Harvard QB Jaden Craig could be a target for Tennessee once he enters the portal
Craig, a New Jersey native, has posted back-to-back fantastic years for the Crimson. Last fall, he tossed for 2,430 yards and 23 touchdowns. He followed things up in a big way this season by throwing for 2,869 yards and 25 more touchdowns. Craig added three scores on the ground in '25.
When the transfer portal opens in January, you can expect Craig to receive plenty of attention. With that said, could a miracle arrive and Aguilar is given an extra year of eligibility? While no new updates have arrived there in a little while, that door hasn't been fully shot.
Aguilar is hoping to get the same kind of good news that Diego Pavia received with Vanderbilt, but things are totally up in the air right now. Because of that, Heupel may need to start thinking about who a new QB1 will be for him sooner rather than later.
We already know a major change is coming on defense with Heupel parting ways with Tim Banks. On offense, everyone is already thinking about who will be leading the offense out onto the field each Saturday. For UT supporters, Aguilar would be the top choice, but if he doesn't return to Knoxville, the portal could bring Heupel his next starter. If things fall that way, then Craig would be a wise veteran to go after.
