The worst part about a season ending is saying goodbye to former players who gave their all for Tennessee, no pun intended, during their careers. Outfielder Reese Chapman was a four-year player and a national champion at Tennessee, but unfortunately his time has come to an end. In an era where everyone leaves, Chapman stayed in Knoxville and became a fan favorite during his time here.

Not only did Chapman prove himself as a fan favorite off the field, but he also produced on the field. This season as a senior, Chapman posted a stellar .317 batting average and a 1.004 OPS. He also drew 31 walks and struck out just 45 times. He was a consistent offensive producer and also made big plays defensively. In the NCAA Tournament game against East Carolina, Chapman gunned down a runner at the plate to save a run. Without that play, Tennessee wouldn't have even reached extra innings.
After the unfortunate early exit in the tournament, Chapman left a heartfelt message to the Vol nation. He said:
"Vol Nation,Reese Chapman
It's hard to put into words what the last four years have meant to me. Wearing Tennessee across my chest has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Through every practice, game, win, setback, and lesson, I gave everything I had to this program and this university.
To my coaches, teammates, support staff, and everyone behind the scenes, thank you for investing in me and helping shape me into the person I am today.
And to Vol Nation, thank you for showing up, believing in us, and supporting me throughout this journey. Your passion is what makes Tennessee special.
Knoxville became more than a place where I played baseball it became home. The relationships, experiences, and memories I made here will stay with me forever.
The memory I will cherish most is knowing that this was the place where my grandad got to watch me play for the last time. That means more to me than I can ever fully express, and it's something I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
Thank you Tennessee for everything.
Once a Vol, always a Vol.
Go Vols"

Reese Chapman sends a heartfelt message to Vols fans
Such a great message from a fan favorite for life in Knoxville. Chapman will likely be a mid-round MLB Draft pick because of his two-way game. Hopefully, at the next level, he can continue being the player we know he can be. He has plus power and can hit for contact. While he isn’t known for speed on the basepaths, he can still steal a bag here and there. Chapman is a high-floor prospect who has been seeing the ball much better this entire season, something people were critical of early in his career.
Nevertheless, Vols fans will forever be grateful for Chapman and what he did for the program. Hopefully, he kills it in the minors and soon finds his way to the MLB.
