Refs blew 2 egregious calls in favor of Georgia in showdown with Tennessee Vols
Tennessee and Georgia are tied 17-17 at the half, but it has been the Vols vs. everybody throughout the first half. The Vols have missed a few crucial plays, but the refs aren't helping Tennessee at all and are making calls in favor of the Bulldogs.
Two calls were egregious throughout the first half. The first is Georgia's Oscar Delp juggling the ball after the catch ran out of bounds. It probably should have been called incomplete or at least reviewed, but the officials didn't bat an eye.
The second was an obvious pass interference call on the Georgia secondary. Georgia's Malaki Starks made contact with Squirrel White before the ball got to him, forcing an incomplete pass, but it should have been pass interference.
Leave it to Kirk Herbstreit and Chris Fowler to play homer for Georgia in the broadcast booth, on top of the missed calls throughout the first half.
There's no doubt who they are likely rooting for, with the entire College Gameday crew picking Georgia to beat Tennessee on Saturday morning.
Despite the missed calls and unfavorable spots Tennessee has been in throughout the first half, they are still in a position to come out with the win and upset in Athens. Despite Tennessee's higher ranking, Georgia came into the game as a 9.5-point favorite.
If Tennessee can continue to run the ball effectively and slow down Georgia's pass rush, the Vols will have a chance to virtually lock in their spot in the 12-team College Football Playoff with a win.
