Could he end up being one of the biggest gets from the transfer portal in 2025? That's what plenty of Tennessee football fans have in mind about cornerback Colton Hood. He transferred from Colorado to Tennessee this offseason in what was huge news for the Vols.
Now that he's in Knoxville, Hood is suiting up for Josh Heupel at fall camp and he's already making a ton of noise. Need further proof of that? During practice over the weekend, Hood came down with an interception off an unknown quarterback that Vols fans must see. Everything about this play from him was superb:

New Tennessee CB Colton Hood is looking sharp early on at camp
The QB, who still remains a mystery, tried to connect with former 5-star signee Mike Matthews on a deep ball. It looked like Matthews even had a step on Hood, but the veteran defensive back was there to make a play on the ball and he was also there to post the head-turning interception.
Props to the camera person who filmed this too, as they were in the perfect spot to grab this clip that has Tennessee fans buzzing. At cornerback, there's loads of concern with Jermod McCoy working his way back from an ACL tear, but Hood will be ready to lead the room.
It remains fully unknown when McCoy will be able to get back on the practice field, as Heupel has said multiple times this summer that there's no set timeline for the All-American CB and that Tennessee isn't going to rush him back into action.
Thankfully for defensive coordinator Tim Banks, Hood has loads of experience, playing for Auburn in 2023 and Colorado last season - he's played in 17 games over the past two years. The return to the SEC will provide plenty of pressure for him, especially with McCoy banged up. Regardless of that, Hood is proving he can be a game-changer for Tennessee already and people can't wait to see what he gets done vs. Syracuse once Week 1 gets here.
