As most of us expected, it was a back-and-forth showdown between Tennessee football and Georgia on Saturday at Neyland Stadium. In the first half alone, these two teams could not stop landing jabs on one another and the entertaining play lasted through four quarters. Heck, we needed overtime, but in heartbreaking fashion, Georgia just took down Tennessee 44-41 in the OT thriller.
There's one play, however, that we can't get over. At the time, the Vols were up 21-7 and the momentum was fully in their favor. However, everything indeed changed when on 3rd-and-long, Zachariah Branch took a screen to the house for six. However, as you'll be able to see in the clip below, it sure looks like the officials somehow missed holding being recorded on Tennessee safety Boo Carter. Take a look for yourself:
New angle of Joey Aguilar-Chris Brazzell TD vs. Georgia is breathtaking
Gets a lot of jersey. That’s a free TD for Georgia with a missed holding call https://t.co/97qq4V3Djl pic.twitter.com/N7WT37m0YL

A missed holding call on a Georgia TD will haunt Tennessee fans for a while
After being up by 14 points, Georgia scored 10 unanswered points to close out the first half. Then in the second half, Georgia got the ball and drove down the field for an impressive opening drive, which led to the Dawgs taking a 24-21 lead. The energy in the stands in the first quarter was electric, but you could have heard a pin drop after UGA took its first lead of the day midway through the third quarter.
Georgia then added a field goal before Joey Aguilar and Chris Brazzell connected for an unreal long TD. It gave the Vols a 28-27 lead at the end of the third, but the Dawgs wasted no time retaking the lead early on in the fourth quarter. Tennessee battled back and ended up taking a 38-30 advantage, but Georgia tied things up. Max Gilbert had a chance to walk things off, but he missed his field goal. UGA then got the job done in the extra session.
Now, plenty of people all over Tennessee are going to be wondering what could have been had a flag been thrown on Georgia tight end Lawson Luckie on the Branch TD. It wasn’t, and the Branch score no question gave UGA new life.
You can’t just blame that one play for the Tennessee loss, however. The Georgia defense made adjustments after Aguilar got off to his amazing start. He simply could not be stopped to open the game, but then things went south for him for a little while. Gilbert also had the chance to win it like we said above, but it wasn't meant to be for him.
With the win for Georgia, the Dawgs have now posted nine consecutive wins against Tennessee. To make things worse for Josh Heupel, he's now 0-5 against UGA. For a lot of people out there, it truly felt like the Vols were finally going to bring the losing streak to an end and do so in style. Instead, another disheartening loss will be on everyone's mind for the rest of the weekend - and longer.
