Tennessee Athletic Director Danny White was asked about the upcoming changes to the Tennessee football schedule with the new conference schedule format. He answered some questions, confirming one question many Vols fans had ahead of Tuesday's schedule release.

White confirmed that Tennessee will have five conference home games next season, with four conference home games in 2027.

"Next year we will have five SEC home games and we will be at Georgia Tech, then it flip flops," White said. "So it's lined up for us through all of our non-conference games that are scheduled right now.

"I think (SEC Deputy Commissioner) Charlie Hussy in our conference office has done a really good job working with us really over the last few years.

"I have been hesitant to move forward out to many years with non-conference scheduling because I wanted to see where we landed on eight games versus nine games. And if we are at nine games, I want to make sure that our home versus away mix matches up with what our 5 SEC games would be versus four."

While we will learn who the Vols' nine opponents will be on Tuesday, we can already start to get an idea of what Tennessee's schedule could look like over the next four years.

If the SEC holds its initial rules for the 2024 schedule with Texas and Oklahoma, the Vols will swap the Sooners for the Longhorns on their 2026 schedule. Also expect Alabama, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Florida or Georgia to remain on the schedule, at least for this round.

The official SEC schedule release for the 2026 through 2029 football seasons will take place Tuesday night at 7:00 PM ET on SEC Network and ESPN2.
