The college football recruiting madness is here and it's sensational. On Wednesday, the Early Signing Period will get underway and some big names are on the way for Josh Heupel and his coaching staff. However, are some head-turning portal additions coming for Tennessee football as well?

Next week, the transfer portal will open up as well and it's going to be a beautiful circus. One of the bigger names expected to land in the portal is Texas Tech wideout Micah Hudson, a former five-star signee with the Red Raiders.

Hudson was one of the top wideouts in the country coming out of high school in 2024 and he's ready to find a new place to call home. Could that home end up being in Knoxville? Shortly after the news dropped on him planning to enter the portal, Tennessee was one of five teams listed as a 'contender' for him.

The Tennessee Vols have already been linked with 5-star WR Micah Hudson

Adding someone of Hudson's caliber could make sense for Heupel. This offseason, the Vols will say goodbye to senior wideout Bru McCoy, who has meant a lot to this program. Dont'e Thornton is also going to be on his way out of town.

While there's plenty of excitement for the future of Mike Matthews, more help is needed on offense and the aerial attack for standout quarterback Nico Iamaleava. That's where someone like Hudson could come in to make an immediate impact.

In five games for Texas Tech in 2024, Hudson was limited to only eight receptions for 123 yards. Those weren't the type of stats people expected him to produce in Lubbock during his first college campaign.

Seeing him linked with Tennessee isn't a stunner either, as the Vols brought him in for a visit before he signed with Texas Tech. Now, Heupel will have another chance to try to recruit him. Colorado, LSU, Texas and others will hope to turn his head first, but keep an eye on Tennessee here for the speedster.
