There's a big week of hoops action on the way for the Tennessee Vols, who still have a bit of a foul taste in their mouths following the 30-point loss to Florida. It's time to fully flush things, however, and get ready for the next SEC matchup on the schedule.
That'd be the Wednesday night showdown with No. 23 Georgia. For the first time in 14 years, the Bulldogs are ranked among the Top 25 teams in the country. Wild. Their reward for that? They'll take on No. 6 Tennessee on Wednesday and then follow things up this weekend against No. 1 Auburn.
Yeah, that's not what any UGA fans want to see for what's to come. The Bulldogs might be riding high due to that first nod in the AP Top 25 since 2011, but Tennessee and Auburn are going to do everything they can do send them back where they belong: to unranked territory.
The Tennessee Vols will look to make a statement vs. Georgia on Wednesday night
Following the loss to Florida, the Vols were able to rebound with a 74-70 win over Texas on Saturday. That's not enough, however. This team needs to keep working to get back into a rhythm, with something being clearly off on offense.
That's where we've got to bring up Chaz Lanier - but we're certainly not calling him out. Throughout the season, Lanier has looked like one of the best players in the country. However, he is coming off back-to-back tough games vs. Florida and the Longhorns.
He's now got a great opportunity to get back to playing at a high level, this time against Georgia in front of what should be a packed crowd in Knoxville. The Vols will be ready to make a statement and hand the Bulldogs a loss. Then, top-ranked Auburn will be ready to do more of the same. Don't be surprised if Georgia goes 0-2 this week and falls out of the Top 25 by next Monday.
