Tennessee baseball is still in a great spot to return to Omaha

Tennessee baseball has had some disappointing performances since the start of SEC play. The Vols have lost four straight SEC series, virtually eliminating the Vols' opportunity to host during the Super Regional Round.

Despite the disappointments, Tennessee is actually in a good spot to return to Omaha for the third time in the past four seasons.

Looking at the past four national champions, Tennessee has rebuilt the best. Between Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and LSU, Tennessee is the only one with a winning conference record, and the Vols and Tigers are the only two with winning overall records.

Tennessee's 39-13 record doesn't seem all that bad, but its conference record, 15-12, is disappointing.

None of the three national champions before Tennessee returned to Omaha after winning the College World Series, but Tennessee remains in the best spot to do that, or even repeat as national champions.

The Vols currently rank among the top-20 teams in college baseball, including No. 14 in the USA Today Coaches Poll and No. 17 in the D1 Baseball poll

Tennessee's final SEC series will be against another challenging opponent. Arkansas currently ranks as a top-ten team, and the Razorbacks are looking to return to Omaha after missing the CWS the past couple of years.

The Vols will travel to Fayetteville to finish their 2025 season with a three-game series against Arkansas, starting Thursday night. The first pitch is scheduled for 8:00 PM ET on ESPN2. This is a must-win series ahead of the SEC Tournament.
