The rich get richer. Last season, the Tennessee Volunteers baseball team made history, winning its first-ever College Baseball World Series title in Omaha. It's a feat that plenty of people in Knoxville are still celebrating. Well, more solid news for the program has come in.

On Tuesday night, touted class of 2026 pitching prospect Tyler Putnam took to social media to announce that he has committed to the Vols. According to 247Sports, Putnam took an official visit to campus earlier this month to watch Tennessee take on Florida at Neyland Stadium.

In addition to Tennessee, Putnam, per 247Sports, took additional visits to Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi State and others. In the end, though, he decided that his future is with Tennessee and he has made an early commitment to one day join the program.

"Lastly I would like to thank the coaches at Tennessee for giving me this opportunity to play for their program. With that being said, I am beyond excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Tennessee!"

Putnam is ranked the No. 1 player from Missouri for his class, which only makes his addition to the '26 haul even better. Head coach Tony Vitello and his staff have been crushing it on the recruiting trail, as they're now up to 17 verbals for 2026.

The Putnam commitment is also the second verbal for the staff in consecutive days. On Monday, fellow 2026 pitcher Cade Allen also announced that he will be Tennessee-bound for his college career. Allen is an in-state standout for South Gibson High.
