Tennessee baseball's season isn't over, but the Vols are already starting to add players to next year's roster on the college baseball transfer portal.
The Vols have recently added Kennesaw State transfer pitcher Bo Rhudy. The addition of Rhudy marks the second time in the past two years that Tennessee has added a Kennesaw State pitcher from the transfer portal.
Last season, Tanner Franklin signed with Tennessee from Kennesaw State. He has been a productive member of Tennessee's pitching staff with a 5.06 ERA and 51 recorded strikeouts. He also set career bests in every pitching statistic this year.
Franklin could look to move to the next level at the end of the 2025 season, so Tony Vitello and company have seemingly prepared to replace him in case he does leave Tennessee for professional baseball.
Rhudy is the first player Tennessee has added out of the transfer portal this cycle. He was a key pitcher in the Owls' bullpen in his sophomore season, finishing the year with a 2-0 record, 3.16 ERA, and 44 strikeouts.
He has provided several valuable performances throughout the year, including a few appearances against Power Four opponents.
Rhudy took the mound against Rutgers, pitching one inning and allowing zero runs. He pitched against Georgia, allowing one run over 0.2 innings of work, and pitched 2.2 innings against West Virginia, with three runs allowed.
His appearances against Georgia and West Virginia were not perfect, but he settled in and put together some great performances throughout the season, including an eight-game stretch where he pitched 10.1 innings and didn't allow any runs.
Rhudy won't join the Vols until next year, but Vitello and the Vols still have a championship in their sights as they prepare for the Fayetteville Super Regional. Tennessee and Arkansas will begin their three-game series on Saturday, with the first pitch scheduled for 5:00 PM ET.
