Tennessee can make Diego Pavia eat his words by landing 4-star over Vandy

Will it be Tennessee or Vandy for the playmaker?

There's an in-state battle going on and the Tennessee football team is hoping to come out on top. For a while now, the Vols have been quite high on 4-star athlete Joel Wyatt, who has taken two different visits to campus over the last month.

Come July 6, the 6-4, 195-pounder will be ready to shut down his recruitment. In some big news from On3's Chad Simmons, Wyatt will be deciding between Tennessee and Vanderbilt. Either way, we know Wyatt will be staying home and playing for either the Vols or Commodores. Which team will come out on top?

4-star ATH Joel Wyatt is down to Tennessee football and Vanderbilt

Wyatt is a standout for The Webb School in Bell Buckle, which is about three hours away from Knoxville and an hour outside of Nashville. He's ranked four stars, the No. 4 ATH in the country, No. 2 player from Nashville and No. 43 prospect nationally for his class per the 247Sports Composite.

He's an elite prospect and the kind of playmaker who would be a great addition for a program. Tennessee has been putting in serious work to capture Wyatt's commitment, including hosting him for a head-turning official visit on June 6. He also took his Vandy OV on June 13.

This is a tight race, but Tennessee fans are hopeful that Wyatt will pick the Vols, especially after what quarterback Diego Pavia said not long ago. In case you missed it, Pavia said Vanderbilt is going to start running the state sooner rather than later, which felt like a direct shot at the Vols.

This came after Tennessee dominated the Commodores in Nashville last November. Come July 6, Vols Nation will be ready to troll Pavia quite a bit if Wyatt gives head man Josh Heupel the news that he's hoping for. It's up in the air who Wyatt will pick, but from our chair, rocking with Tennessee over Vanderbilt feels like a no-brainer.
