One of the biggest takeaways from the 2025 Tennessee football season was the emergence of transfer cornerback Colton Hood. After Jermod McCoy tore his ACL last winter, someone had to step up, and Hood rose to the occasion.

In 2025, Hood had 50 tackles, eight passes defended, an interception, and a forced fumble. He has worked his way into a blue-chip NFL Draft with his stellar performance on the gridiron last fall.

Before the Senior Bowl, CBS Sports said, "Tennessee's Colton Hood stands as the cream of the crop and a potential first-round pick." Hood has backed this up with his incredible play throughout the week.

Colton Hood has backed up what scouts have thought about him

One of the most impressive players during the Senior Bowl has been Colton Hood. He hasn't quite turned heads like Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez, but the reviews have been positive for the McDonough, Georgia, product. ESPN has Hood ranked as the No. 35 overall player and the No. 6 cornerback in the draft. Pro Football Focus has Hood at No. 29 overall and the No. 4 cornerback. He's viewed as a fringe round one guy, but with a solid week so far, he could be a riser.

Take a look at some of these plays that Hood has made so far. Plus, these are reps against the top wide receiver prospects in the nation.

The media is taking notice of Hood's play, too, citing that the former Vol cornerback should be a first-round pick in April's draft, praising his technique and ability to lock down wideouts.

Hood's ability to be deployed on an island and excel in man coverage is a significant asset for an NFL team. Scouts appreciate his length for a cornerback and his willingness to get physical in press coverage.

Tennessee could potentially have three players selected in the first round of this year's NFL Draft. Cornerback Jermod McCoy is almost guaranteed, and wide receiver Chris Brazzell II also has a strong chance to be chosen early. Only time will tell, but Tennessee will once again have a strong footprint on Sundays.
