Tennessee could have a big advantage at Ohio State thanks to the CFP

Tennessee is preparing for its first College Football Playoff game since the new postseason format was introduced a decade ago. The Vols are going on the road to play Ohio State in Columbus in the first round of the playoff.

The Vols were hoping to get a home playoff game in the first round, but that isn't the case. Josh Heupel has embraced the opportunity to go on the road and prove they belong in the national championship picture after winning ten games this year.

It also seems like the Buckeyes' home-field advantage could be minimal. Tennessee fans have been buying tickets like crazy. Barrett Sallee of SiriusXM and Outkick believes Tennessee could have up to 35% of the stadium in orange, which would greatly eliminate OSU's home-field advantage.

Ohio State will also be limited in creating a home-field advantage for themselves through music and entertainment throughout the game. According to Ohio State Athletic Director Ross Bjork, College Football Playoff will have officials in control of the music throughout the game.

Tennessee will also be given an entrance video, which is unheard of in athletics for a road team to be given a hype video prior to entering the stadium.

This would be huge in eliminating the Buckeyes' home-field advantage if they do indeed only fill 65% of their stadium in Scarlet.

It also benefits Tennessee that the CFP will control music and video throughout the game. I think OSU should be in full control of its stadium throughout the game, but the way it is set up will benefit the Vols.

Tennessee and Ohio State will finally meet in one week on December 21. College Gameday will be in town on Saturday to highlight the game, which will be ESPN and ABC's primetime game in the first round of the CFP.
