Fall Camp is only a couple of days away, and Tennessee football fans have begun building hype surrounding newcomer Joey Aguilar, who transferred from UCLA as a result of the Nico Iamaleava fallout.Ā

Aguilar's media day picture has been released, and Vols fans were able to get their first look at the former Appalachian State QB in Tennessee orange.Ā

Vols fans immediately got excited seeing Aguilar in orange and white for the first time, complimenting his "build" with the undershirt, chain, and half leg sleeve.

One Tennessee fan on X even compared his look to prime Baker Mayfield during his time at Oklahoma. If Aguilar brings the same confidence and swagger as Baker to the field, the Vols could be in for a fun season.

It also appears that Aguilar has spent some extra time in the weight room this offseason, as Kerry Williams shared a media picture from the 2024 season compared to the 2025 picture, and he has noticeably put on some muscle.Ā

If Aguilar can maintain the athleticism he has shown while improving his decision-making and playing with a thicker build, he could be a solid dual-threat quarterback.Ā

Aguilar was a starter for two seasons at Appalachian State, totaling 6,760 passing yards, 56 touchdowns, and 24 interceptions. His turnover rate is the biggest question mark, but he has the potential to light up the field and has proven that in the past couple of seasons with the Mountaineers.

He excels in many areas and has the potential to exceed expectations in his lone season on Rocky Top, but he must first learn the offense and secure the starting quarterback job.

Fall Camp begins this week for Tennessee as Aguilar begins his journey to earn the No. 1 quarterback job and win over Vol Nation.
