Tennessee five-star quarterback commit Faizon Brandon is widely regarded as the best quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class. The 6-foot-5, 197-pound quarterback out of North Carolina is already thought of as Nico Iamaleava's replacement before he even steps on campus.Β
247 Sports ranks Brandon as the No. 1 player in the 2026 recruiting class, and he's further cementing his spot as the best player in the class with an elite honor from the Navy National Combine.
The combine took place recently in San Antonio, Texas, where over 600 players from the 2026, 2027, 2028, and 2029 recruiting classes gathered to show their skills. Of those players, only one can earn the honor of being named the "Alpha Dog" of the combine.
Brandon showed off his accuracy and arm strength throughout the combine, impressing scouts with his ability to hit targets across all levels. One video started making the rounds on X of Brandon, throwing a perfect pass to his receiver in the end zone while going one-on-one with a defensive back.Β
Andrew Ivins, 247 Sports' director of scouting, is confident after the combine that Brandon is the best player in the 2026 recruiting class. "Having had a chance to scout some of our other early five-star prospects in the 2026 cycle up close," Ivins wrote, "and in person the past few weeks, we are more confident that we have the right player at the top of the board."
If Brandon chooses to sign with Tennessee at the end of the 2025 season, he would be Tennessee's second five-star quarterback commit in the past three recruiting cycles and the fifth-straight class with a blue-chip quarterback in the Josh Heupel era.
