We understand that change is always going to happen. We've seen that with the Tennessee football team in recent years, with some things being remixed that people aren't too happy about. The spring game is a good example. Now, though, something else has arrived that has left folks ticked off.
For more than three decades, 'Vol Calls' has been a staple among the Tennessee faithful. However, as Mike Wilson noted below, the decision has been made for it to be axed moving forward. So, for everyone who was looking forward to calling in to ask Josh Heupel a question this fall, you can go ahead and forget about it. This truly is a shame:
Tennessee fans losing their minds on Twitter over Vol Calls ending
"Vols Calls" is no more.

The longtime call-in show featuring Tennessee coaches fielding questions from fans will not be part of the revamped Vol Network programming, which pairs live programming with on-demand content. https://t.co/johPpobCVy
Tennessee getting rid of Vol Calls has plenty of fans furious
According to Wilson, people can still submit their questions for Heupel on social media, but come on, that's not even close to the same. Mike Keith is taking over as the new Voice of the Vols and he'll be having a weekly show with Heupel on Thursdays during the campaign.
This will be Keith's first season in the role, as he's taking over for the legendary Bob Kesling. Keith has huge shoes to fill, but he's a Vol through and through and everyone is excited about what he's going to be able to get done back on campus moving forward.
With that said, how much fun was it for people to call in and speak directly with a coach? It's not like this just started last season or something. It's been 35 years of Tennessee finding a way for the fanbase and the head ball coach to connect in a unique way. It's part of what makes the Knoxville community so special.
A quick look on social media showcases plenty of angry posts and that shouldn't come as a surprise. Tennessee has made the call to mix things up in an attempt to bring some new energy with how things are done. Hey, we get it, sometimes you've got to try something different to see how UT supporters might react. To cancel Vol Calls, though? That's going to prove to be a major mistake and Danny White has some explaining to do.
