Tennessee baseball has struggled to close SEC series over the past month, but the Vols are still in a great position to go on a postseason run.
Former Tennessee wide receiver Dayton Sneed isn't as high on the BaseVols, though, and took a shot at Tony Vitello's squad after transferring to North Carolina.
Sneed took a picture of On3 Sports' updated college baseball top 25 to his Instagram, calling Tennessee baseball trash. "Switched at the perfect time, they trash now," Sneed wrote.
Tennessee is 41-15 heading into the SEC Tournament, only a few games off their win total last year when they won the College World Series.
That is far from trash despite the Vols' struggles in conference play. Tennessee's drop to No. 21 in On3's rankings is largely due to the Vols' inability to close an SEC series in recent weeks, losing five straight SEC series.
On the other hand, Sneed didn't do much for the Vols in his two years on Rocky Top. He walked onto Tennessee out of Nashville and finished his career in orange and white with one catch for 12 yards.
Sneed's decision to transfer to North Carolina could allow him to earn a scholarship for a Power Four program, but his jab at Tennessee seems to indicate that his departure from Tennessee left a sour taste in his mouth.
His younger brother, Carson Sneed, is a four-star tight end at Donelson Christian Academy in the 2026 recruiting class. He is currently committed to Tennessee but recently visited North Carolina, as the Tar Heels and Dayton are looking to flip Carson to UNC.
Tennessee baseball begins its run to the College World Series on Wednesday to begin its SEC Tournament. Vols football is working to revamp its offense with new faces across the offense.
