Tennessee football added a few key players in the winter transfer portal window, but it wasn't a flashy or explosive portal cycle for the Vols, and it shows in the transfer portal rankings.

The Vols added four players in the transfer portal this cycle, which was barely enough for Tennessee to crack the top 100 in college football and near the bottom of the SEC.

247 Sports ranks Tennessee's transfer portal class No. 88 in the country and No. 14 in the SEC, while On3 Sports ranks the Vols No. 38 nationally and No. 10 in the SEC.

That is far from ideal coming off the first College Football Playoff appearance since the new postseason format was introduced in 2014, but the players added should have the opportunity to make an immediate impact in 2025.

The Vols' 2025 transfer portal class consists of Arizona transfer offensive lineman Windell Moe, Alabama transfer wide receiver Amari Jefferson, Duke transfer running back Star Thomas, and Notre Dame transfer offensive lineman Sam Pendleton.

Moe and Pendleton will likely both be starters on the offensive line in the fall. Pendleton brings some experience from Notre Dame, where he competed against some of the best teams in the country, while Moe has a full year of starting experience under his belt.

That experience coming to the offensive line will be vital to the development of Nico Iamaleava and other less experienced offensive linemen who will have to step up this year.

Jefferson and Thomas's additions also provide much-needed depth to the skill positions where most production will head to the 2025 NFL Draft.

Tennessee will have another opportunity to improve its transfer portal class with the spring transfer window. While the ranking doesn't look good on the surface, Tennessee added players they can plug into the offense and play immediately.
