As things stand, things are looking strong for Tennessee football heading into the new campaign starting in late August, but more help is still needed. More specifically, Vols fans are eyeing help for the secondary, which is where cornerback Colton Hood could help out.

The defensive back is coming off a strong season with Colorado in 2024, but he's in the transfer portal looking for a new home. According to On3's Pete Nakos, Hood visited Miami and Mario Cristobal on Wednesday, plus he's meeting with Tennessee and Josh Heupel on Thursday. Soon enough, it feels like a decision could be coming at any moment from him:

Tennessee football is hoping to land Colorado CB transfer Colton Hood

Last season for Colorado and Deion Sanders, Hood appeared in 13 games, finishing with 24 total tackles and two interceptions. He was a standout for the Colorado defense, but he's now looking to join his third program in the past three years.

Coming out of high school, the 6-1 CB from Georgia signed with the Auburn Tigers ranked as the No. 38 cornerback in the country according to the 247Sports Composite. He picked the Tigers over additional rides from Michigan State, Clemson, Florida, LSU and many others.

He spent just one season in the SEC with Auburn before entering the portal and making the move to Boulder to play for Sanders. He's once again looking for a new home, with Tennessee and Miami standing out for him right now.

Could this lead to Heupel signing him soon? That's the hope. Adding Hood to the CBs room would be a great win for this team at this point of the offseason, especially with Jermod McCoy continuing to rehab from the torn ACL he suffered in the winter. Look for Hood to potentially shut down his recruitment following his stay in Knoxville. Will it be Miami or the Vols? We'll see if a return to SEC country is on the way for him.
