We knew there were going to be some ups and downs for the Tennessee football team at camp - come on, that happens every year. However, a lack of focus will never be something that head man Josh Heupel and his staff are going to put up with.
Unfortunately on Saturday, the updates from reporters with boots on the ground is that the offense was quite sluggish in Knoxville. The main reason for that? Well, the receivers had butter all over their fingers, with multiple drops being showcased. This is nothing new for Tennessee supporters, but it's something that needs to be fixed immediately:

Tennessee receivers had a case of the drops during Saturday's practice
What makes this even more frustrating is that these were dime throws from new Vols quarterback Joey Aguilar, who's in a fall camp battle to win the starting job. Also, reporter Camille Gear reminded everyone that reporters only have a few minutes to watch the action during practice.
So, these drops came in only a limited amount of time? Sure did. Former 5-star signee Mike Matthews had the first drop in the clip above, with Aguilar putting the ball on the money. Then, Braylon Staley added another drop on what would have been a huge connection.
It goes without saying, but we're just glad these mental mistakes and errors are taking place in August instead of September. It's best for this sloppy play to come during fall camp instead of when these plays matter. Imagine multiple drops for the Vols in Week 3 at Neyland Stadium against Georgia and Kirby Smart.
Yeah, it'd be a disaster and it could potentially make the difference between a season-changing win and a loss. That's why Heupel and wide receivers coach Kelsey Pope are going to make sure this nonsense doesn't continue and extra reps are recorded so the wideouts can be at their best. Yes, this was disappointing to see on Saturday, but don't expect this to continue. It won't be accepted by anyone.
