We still have no news on Joey Aguilar or who will be QB1 for Tennessee week one, but it looks like things are starting to move forward. Tennessee has been pushing hard for former Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt, but the Vols haven't secured his commitment yet.
Why Josh Heupel and Tennessee can benefit from losing Jordan Ross to LSU
What’s obvious is that Leavitt does like Tennessee. He only planned to visit Knoxville for a day, but he ended up staying for two nights. However, he still hasn't signed with the Vols, and he is now heading to Miami for a visit right after a huge playoff win.
Tennessee is keeping its options at quarterback next fall open, as it is targeting another big-time quarterback.
Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports is reporting that Tennessee is planning to bring in Beau Pribula for a visit.

Beau Pribula is on his way to Tennessee's campus
It’s hard to ignore the fact that Tennessee is bringing in another quarterback prospect to campus. Pribula isn't going to come here to be the backup, so this means the writing is on the wall when it comes to Joey Aguilar.
Pribula started 10 games for Missouri this year. The Tigers were 7-3 with Pribula starting and 3-3 in the SEC. What Vols fans will love about Pribula is that he is a prototypical dual-threat quarterback who can make plays with his arm and his legs.
In 2025, Pribula threw for 1,941 yards, completing 67.4% of his throws. He had 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Pribula also added 297 rushing yards and six scores on the ground.
The injuries and the turnovers are the obvoius concern with Pribula. The good news is that he can run an offense like Josh Heupel's, and he has all the tools; he just has to put it all together. When he's on Pribula, is a stud. Pribula is still an accurate quarterback with a plus arm, but the decision making has got to improve. Despite this, he is still rated the No. 15 quarterback by 247Sports.
It’s worth remembering that Tennessee has two talented freshman quarterbacks, but it seems Heupel is opting for a more veteran option. To make matters even more intriguing, it looks like Aguilars' time is probably done in Knoxville. Heupel is starting to make it clear that he wants a transfer signal-caller.
What lies ahead is unknown, but the Vols will likely have much more clarity on their QB1 for 2026 soon.
