It goes without saying, but the Tennessee Vols football team needs some help at wide receiver before the 2025 campaign gets here. In a big twist, five players at the position decided to enter the transfer portal this offseason.

Because of that, head man Josh Heupel has been busy trying to find some quality replacements - ones who will be able to make a big difference for Nico Iamaleava and the offense as a whole. Is a former Alabama wideout getting ready for a move to Knoxville?

On Thursday, Crimson Tide wideout Amari Jefferson announced that he was going to enter the transfer portal. Not long after that, both On3's Steve Wiltfong and Pete Nakos put in their predictions for him to end up signing with the Vols. You know what, this is needed news for Heupel, and something he needs to get done:

Tennessee football is expected to sign Alabama WR transfer Amari Jefferson

Should Jefferson end up committing to Tennessee, it wouldn't be the first time. Interestingly enough, Jefferson was previously UT-bound as a baseball verbal. However, he ended up changing his mind and while he also had an offer to play football for the Vols, he signed with Alabama instead.

Now, though, it turns out there's a strong chance that Jefferson could end up playing for Tennessee and Heupel after all. As a member of the 2024 class, Jefferson was ranked four stars and the No. 33 wide receiver in the country.

Things didn't go to plan for him in his first campaign over in Tuscaloosa, opening the door for his search to begin to find a new home. Tennessee clearly wasted no time in getting in touch with him, with Heupel hoping to move fast here.

Jefferson isn't the only transfer WR Tennessee is looking at, as Zachariah Branch, Malik Benson and others are getting close looks. As fans already know, we're still waiting to see what happens with the whole Mike Matthews situation, with Heupel hoping he can keep him in town instead of seeing him leave for a new squad.
