Earlier this week, plenty of Tennessee football fans were pretty up in arms when the new recruiting rankings came out from Rivals. Not only did Tennessee quarterback commit Faizon Brandon lose his coveted fifth star, but he also fell out of the Top 25.

Seriously? It was an update that a lot of people couldn't believe was real. Thankfully, 247Sports came out with its updated rankings leading up to Week 1 for high school standouts and order was restored. That's because Brandon didn't fall at all.

In the new 247Sports update, the future Vols' stud remains a 5-star prospect, the No. overall QB in the country and the No. 1 player overall. That's what we like to see. Brandon now will have extra confidence moving forward before his senior campaign gets here.

Tennessee QB Faizon Brandon remains the No. 1 QB in the country per 247Sports

The main change at quarterback was that Texas commit Dia Bell moved up to being the No. 3 QB in the land, with Georgia commit Jared Curtis falling to No. 4. As you might be able to imagine, UGA fans aren't too happy about that.

That's nothing for the Tennessee faithful to worry about, however, as Brandon is No. 1 on the list and barring a change this fall, things should stay that way when he puts the pen to paper and makes things official with UT.

Come December, Brandon will ink with the Vols during the Early Signing Period and then he'll graduate early so that he can enroll in classes at Tennessee in January. That's of course massive, as it will allow him to participate in spring ball.

Brandon getting a headstart on his college career is going to be quite beneficial for him in the long run. He's got superstar talent written all over him and he should be playing in the NFL one day too. Before that happens, a promising career in Knoxville will be on the way for him playing under Josh Heupel.
