He's not here for a long time, but the impact that Joey Aguilar has made already with the Tennessee football team has been great to see. Aguilar was thrown into a rough situation, signing with the Vols after former 5-star signee Nico Iamaleava left for UCLA.
Tennessee vs. Florida opening betting line may come as a surprise to many
Aguilar wasn't guaranteed the starting job, but he worked his tail off and he came out on top of that fall camp battle. Since then, he's exceeded expectations and while the Vols are on the outside looking in for the CFP, a 9-3 season is still in the works.
After this season, though, Aguilar will be out of eligibility and he will be saying goodbye to Knoxville. It's something he already has on his mind and while speaking to Mike Keith, the QB didn't hold back on what Vols Nation and Tennessee as a whole means to him:
Joey Aguilar joined @tennvoice on this week's episode of The Mike Keith Show to discuss what #VolNation means to him.

Joey Aguilar has loved his short time with Tennessee football in 2025
"It's fun," Aguilar said. "Especially for the kids. The kids think I'm one of the biggest celebrities there is in the world and to know to just dap them up or say what's up to them makes their world is something I hope I can just keep doing."
When you're the starting quarterback for the University of Tennessee, countless eyes are going to be on you at all times. Thankfully, Aguilar has been a tremendous role model and he has taken great pride in wearing Vols gear and representing the university.
Aguilar has also been throwing the ball all over the field, tossing for 2,737 yards and 21 touchdowns. We won't act like he has been perfect, as he has also had some struggles too - his performance against Oklahoma was frustrating to watch at times, though his offensive line didn't do him any favors.
With that said, again, Aguilar came into a rough situation, but he has made the most of his opportunities. Playing for Tennessee has been a dream come true for him and his family. Before everyone starts getting too emotional, there are still three more games to play and Aguilar will have to be at his best to post wins over New Mexico State, Florida and Vandy.
