Tennessee will be one of the subjects in a new Netflix series that will follow teams around the SEC throughout the 2024 college football season. Netflix announced Wednesday morning that a "Drive to Survive" style documentary following the SEC will air in the Summer of 2025.
"A Netflix Sports series following the 2024 SEC college football season is coming Summer 2025," Netflix shared on X. "Providing unfiltered access to coaches and players in college football's most dominant conference and giving an exclusive look at key matchups throughout the season."
The series is expected to follow teams across the conference, not only one team or a handful of teams, but ten of the 16 teams in the conference. With Tennessee's ten-win season and the birth of the College Football Playoff, the Vols could be at the forefront of the teams that Netflix focuses on in the new series.
Brett McMurphy confirmed that the teams were not participating in Netflix's documentary. "The SEC football programs not participating in Netflix series are Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and Texas," McMurphy reported. The Remaining 11 SEC schools will be featured in a Netflix series next summer.
This will be the first behind-the-scenes documentary about college football and the SEC. We've seen Netflix do this type of documentary in the past with F1 and NASCAR. Max has also done a similar style of documentary with the NFL with its "Hard Knocks" series.
The 2024 season is the perfect year to follow one of the top two conferences in college football. There was more parity than ever in the conference, which saw any team from top to bottom have a chance to win no matter its opponent.
