• The breaking news came in not long ago and people remain shocked. That update was that standout QB Nico Iameleava won't continue playing for the Vols. Contract issues opened the door for Nico to decide he doesn't want to play for Heupel anymore. Soon enough, we'll see if a big-name replacement makes his way to town.
UPDATE: Iamaleava has since reportedly committed to play for UCLA.
• Safety John Slaughter will also reportedly enter the transfer portal. In two seasons with the Vols, the defensive back has appeared in 23 games, posting one interception.
Tennessee football spring portal: Which players have committed to Josh Heupel?
As of this writing, there are no new names on the Tennessee commit list, as the portal won't officially open until Wednesday. However, with Iamaleava no longer QB1 for the program, Heupel is expected to either add depth or a new starter. We'll find out soon enough how things play out.
