The Tennessee Volunteers could be getting some much-needed clarity on the future state of their running back room here soon. In one week's time, four-star tailback Andrew Beard from Bogart, Georgia will be announcing where he intends to play his college football career at. He has narrowed it down to four schools, one of which being the Volunteers. They do face stiff competition for him...

Heading into the final week of his recruitment, these are the four finalists for Beard's commitment.

  • Clemson Tigers
  • Florida Gators
  • Georgia Bulldogs
  • Tennessee Volunteers

He may hail from right outside of Athens, but Clemson and Florida seem to be very much in on him.

As for Tennessee, Beard very much feels like David Gabriel Georges insurance for its 2027 class...

Andrew Beard will decide between Tennessee and 3 other teams on May 8

According to the 247Sports Composite, Beard is the No. 15 player from Georgia, the No. 9 running back in the country, and the No. 153 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting cycle. While he could stay home and play for the Bulldogs, UGA has a five-star commitment from the top running back in this class in Kemon Spell. Plus, there are some concerns about level of comp playing for Prince Avenue...

The other important thing to know here is Gabriel Georges is still uncommitted this late in the cycle. The five-star running back from Chattanooga is the No. 2 running back in this class behind Spell, and the No. 10 overall prospect in the 2027 cycle. He is also looking at Georgia, as well as Ole Miss, but Tennessee and Ohio State feel like the two schools jockeying for him the most. What does this mean?

If Tennessee lands Beard, it probably indicates that Gabriel Georges is heading to Columbus. If Beard commits to Clemson, Florida, or Georgia, it puts even more of an onus on landing Gabriel Georges. Simply put, what Beard decides to do next Friday will play a part on if Gabriel Georges will be coming to Knoxville or not. Right now, Clemson feels like the team to beat for Beard, followed up by Florida.

Let's not overlook how Kirby Smart likes to implement a multi-running back attack leading Georgia...
