Tennessee Vols head to South Carolina's territory for new 2025 verbal commit
Life sure is good for the Tennessee Volunteers football program right now. Ranked the No. 7 team in the country, Josh Heupel and his staff are cooking up some great things and the rest of the SEC is taking notice. As you might have been able to guess, the big year is also helping out with recruiting.
This weekend, there are several prospects on their way to town, including 5-star WR Tristen Keys. Ahead of the upcoming matchup with Kentucky, though, Heupel got some great news, as senior kicker Grady Dangerfield announced on social media that he's Knoxville-bound for his college career.
Kicker Grady Dangerfield has committed to Tennessee's 2025 class
Any win on the recruiting trail is fantastic news, especially when it's a prospect from South Carolina. Dangerfield hails from Charleston, but he won't be playing at the next level for home-state USC - instead, he has decided he wants to play for Heupel and Co.
Dangerfield will be joining the program as a preferred walk-on in hopes of earning a scholarship down the road. Because of this, Tennessee remains at 23 known verbal pledges on scholarship for its 2025 haul. Despite Dangerfield being a PWO, don't sleep on the youngster's abilities.
Time and time again in college football, we have seen just how important it is to have a clutch, reliable kicker available on the roster. Dangerfield had listed offers on 247Sports from Army, Navy, Georgia Southern and Virginia Tech.
However, the opportunity to play in the SEC is simply far too much for him to pass up on, which is why he has shut down his recruitment in favor of the Vols. In his announcement post, Dangerfield showcased just how much this moment means to him and Tennessee supporters are showing him love in the replies. He's excited for his future on campus, where he'll look to deliver with some big-time kicks for his new team.
