The Boo Carter situation this fall was certainly an unusual one for Tennessee football, and it ultimately ended with him entering the transfer portal. When he missed the New Mexico State game, Vols fans knew that something was off, and it was.

Tennessee and Josh Heupel immediately dealt with transfer news after loss to Illinois

After Carter missed the game despite no reported injury, Heupel made it clear there was more to the situation, saying, "at the end of the day, there’s a standard you’ve got to meet to be in that locker room,” a comment that was widely interpreted as being directed at Carter.

With Carter not technically in the portal yet, teams can't contact him, but we all know he and his team are looking for new options. When it comes to Carter's new destination, there is a new prediction on where Carter could land.

FanSided's Nicolas Rome, the site expert at Saturday Blitz, has predicted where the top player at each position in the portal will land, and he thinks that the talented safety ends up at Colorado.

Would Boo Carter fit at Colorado?

Boo Carter is ranked as the number one safety in the portal by Rome. The talented sophomore can do it all. He is versatile on defense, being able to cover all over the field and disrupt runners in the backfield. His athleticism and instincts are off the charts, which is no surprise that Saturday Blitz has him ranked as the number one safety in the portal. Oh, and I forgot to mention he's one of the best return men in the nation.

Tennessee losing Carter hurts, but that wound has healed, and Vols fans have moved on. The standard is the standard, and missing practices and certainly games are not acceptable. If Carter ends up at Colorado, I think it would be a perfect landing spot, frankly.

He would get to learn from being a defensive back from Deion Sanders, one of the best to do it, and Colorado has had success with Travis Hunter, another do-it-all type defensive back. Im sure the Heisman and the ability to utilize an athlete like Travis Hunter is appealing to Carter.

Ultimately, if Carter wants to find success at his next stop, it’s going to come down to getting rid of the distractions. The talent is clearly there, but cutting out the extra stuff and locking in on football will be key moving forward.
