Thanks to the new 247Sports rankings, a lot of Tennessee football fans are pretty darn happy right now. Not only did offensive tackle commit Gabriel Osenda get bumped up to a 5-star rating, but quarterback Faizon Brandon remains the No. 1 overall prospect for his class.
Brandon is a generational talent and Vols supporters can't wait to see him suit up for the team once the 2026 campaign gets here. Brandon of course knew he wasn't going to fall with the 247Sports update and he was as humble as ever once the news eventually dropped. If anything, this is going to motivate him to put on a show during his senior campaign:
Tennessee QB commit Faizon Brandon remains the No. 1 prospect in the country
Brandon could have a big head over his status, but that's not the case for this young man. Instead, he's thankful that his talents are being recognized. He's going to fit in perfectly in Knoxville too, which is a major plus for head man Josh Heupel and his staff.
The standout signal-caller is 100 percent locked in with the Vols, which is a relief. As soon as Bill Belichick was hired, there was plenty of speculation that Brandon might think about a flip to play for his home-state Tar Heels, but the QB didn't waste time in saying he's fully committed to UT.
Throughout his recruitment, the 6-3, 200-pounder picked up offers from Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, UNC and many others. He pledged to the Vols last August, with Heupel pulling off a massive recruiting win.
The earliest Brandon will be able to make things official with Tennessee will be during the Early Signing Period in December and that moment can't get here soon enough. When that does happen, he'll be doing so as the top-ranked stud in the country, an honor he's not going to take for granted.
