It wasn't easy, but the Tennessee Volunteers can say they're 10-2 on the season and on their way to the College Football Playoff. Early on, the Vanderbilt Commodores gave them everything this team could handle, jumping out to a 14-0 lead.
That's right, the start to the game could not have gone worse for the Vols, but Tennessee never stopped believing. When it was all said and done, Tennessee was able to celebrate a dominant 36-23 win, outscoring the Commodores 36-9 to close things out.
After the final whistle, Josh Heupel was all smiles and rightfully so. Thanks to the official Tennessee X account, we have been given an inside look at his postgame locker room speech to his players. Spoiler alert, it's simply sensational:
Josh Heupel's locker room speech after taking down Vandy was awesome
Heupel was surely fired up for his team, but at the same time he wanted to remind everyone that the hard work is only getting started. It's up in the air if the Vols will end up hosting a CFP first-round game or not, but there's a strong chance it will happen.
Should that end up being the case, then Neyland Stadium is going to be rockin' from start to finish. Will Ohio State potentially be making its way to Knoxville? That'd be an electric showdown and a game that plenty of people would love to see, especially after the Buckeyes lost at home to Michigan during rivalry weekend.
Soon enough, we'll know when Tennessee will be taking the field next, but the great news is they took care of business against Vanderbilt to keep their title dreams alive. Heupel has his guys focused on the task at hand and the squad knows there's a lot more work to do. The season to remember keeps on rolling for the Vols.
