It was a rough weekend for the Tennessee Vols baseball team and head man Tony Vitello. Things boiled over on Sunday, with the Vols suffering a disappointing series loss to the Auburn Tigers. We're not one to blame the umps, but come on, the questionable calls were enough to make anyone upset.
On Sunday in the middle of the action, Vitello finally lost it. After a brutal call that led to another Auburn run getting posted on the board, Vitello indeed exploded and the let umps on the field hear all about it. Yup, he didn't hold back at all. Take a look for yourself in the clip below:
Wow. Tony Vitello just got tossed and gave each member of the umpiring crew an earful.

Obviously, he’s seen enough. Will it spark Tennessee to a comeback in the rubber game vs. Auburn? pic.twitter.com/P8DYNEgF3N
Tony Vitello was furious with the umps in Tennessee's series-finale loss to Auburn
Vitello surely wasn't thrilled with his offense either, as the UT bats were quiet on Sunday against the Tigers. In the end, Auburn was able to post an 8-1 win in the series finale, with Tigers fans now trolling Vols supporters left and right on social media.
Yeah, that only makes things worse. The Vols will look to get back on the right track next week against Indiana State and Vanderbilt, but Sunday's loss sure stings. Starting pitcher A.J. Russell looked sharp through the first two innings, but a rough third inning ended his day.
Once Nate Snead took the bump, things didn't go well at all, with him not being able to clean things up and get Tennessee out of a rough spot. Things hit a low for Tennessee when it went down 6-0 in the fifth inning on the bases-loaded walk.
Vitello was frustrated as things were, but the missed check-swing call sent him over the edge - it also resulted in him taking an early shower. The reigning College World Series champs have a lot to clean up before the postseason gets here and Vitello wants to see his guys show a bit more fight. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case in the series-finale vs. Auburn. Tennessee has now lost a frustrating three series in a row.
