The wait is almost over to find out where 5-star forward Nate Ament is going to be playing his college ball in 2025-26. While he originally was going to announce at the McDonald's All-American Game, he wasn't locked in with a decision, so he pushed things back.

However, late last week, Ament told analyst Krysten Peek that he'd be announcing his school of choice in a 'week or two.' Taking that timeline into account, that means that at the earliest, we could be finding out Ament's call by this weekend.

If that doesn't happen and he needs even more time, then we should know by next week at the latest. This is obviously something Tennessee basketball fans are keeping a close eye on, as a crystal ball pick just went in for Rick Barnes and the Vols to land the elite prospect.

Nate Ament could announce his college commitment any day now

This truly would be a historic get for the Vols, as Ament is a five-star playmaker, ranked the No. 2 power forward in the land and the No. 4 prospect nationally. He would become the highest-rated player to EVER suit up for Tennessee.

While the prediction has come in for UT, you never know what might happen in the next few days. Duke continues to be a major contender and Jon Scheyer could look to go all-in for Ament now that the Blue Devils and Shelton Henderson have parted ways.

As for the Vols, Ament is obviously high on their list, while people continue to wait and see what will happen with Rodney Rice. Can you imagine if Ament commits and Rice does as well? Those two would be major additions for the roster, while Tennessee is also in on Elyjah Freeman, who recently was on campus for a visit.

It sure feels like some good news will be on the way soon for Tennessee. Will Ament be the one to deliver it? Fans hope so. Ament is on commitment watch moving forward and it wouldn't be a total surprise if he shuts down his recruitment this weekend.
