There was nothing about the Tennessee vs. Kentucky showdown that needed to arrive for Vols players to have extra motivation to record a win in a rivalry tilt. However, with beloved linebackers coach William Inge out of this hospital and at Neyland Stadium for this monster top-25 battle, you already know the playmakers suited up wanted to record a win for him.
Mission accomplished. Inge made his way onto the field after the 34-6 victory for the Vols, and he was understandably all smiles while shaking hands and exchanging hugs with players and coaches. Then shortly after, Inge stepped in front of the entire team to deliver an emotional speech. Yup, this is just incredible to see.
"Hey fellas, remember, it will always and forever be about us," Inge said after getting a game ball from Josh Heupel. "Never forget that, because together, everyone can achieve more. You can achieve more. Offense, defense, and special teams playing together, that's what defines a football team. As you go through each week of November, the stakes get higher. I know one thing, I'm not a vegetarian. I love my stakes (steaks) big. Let's get them (Texas A&M next) going on the road."

William Inge was back where he belonged at Neyland Stadium for the win over Kentucky
Anyone else get hit in the feels after seeing that clip above? You're not the only one, as Inge means so much to this squad, and having him back with the group even for just one night made things even more special. It must have meant a ton to him and his family, too.
Earlier this year, Inge was hospitalized, and plenty of worry arrived in Knoxville. While the exact situation wasn't made public, it was serious enough that the Vols released a statement saying that Inge was in the hospital, while Heupel added that Inge was continuing to fight, while also asking Vols Nation to keep sending prayers and well wishes his way.
Luckily, Inge continued to make progress, which led to him being at the stadium for this heavyweight battle with the Wildcats. Taking down the No. 8 (AP Poll) team in the country, but it was the defense which was downright electric from start to finish. And at linebacker in particular, how about the performance from Arion Carter?
The senior 'backer was on absolute fire against UK, recording 13 total tackles, with two sacks. Think Coach Inge loved seeing that out of his veteran standout? You better believe it. Carter has once again been one of Tenneseee's most important players this year, with Inge of course having a major say in his development as a whole.
While Inge has been away from this team for a little while, he has always been with the Vols in spirit. Having him back in Tennessee gear was emotional for so many different people, and it surely was a great experience for Inge, too, as he continues to work back to full health.
Wins like the one over Kentucky will help make him happy, which is of course some pretty dang good medicine. Feel better, coach, and even if it was only for a few hours, glad to have you back.
