Jason Witten To Replace Julius Thomas In Pro-Bowl

Former Tennessee Volunteer Jason Witten is on his way to his tenth career Pro-Bowl.

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten will play in his tenth career Pro-Bowl next weekend, by virtue of replacing Denver Broncos tight end Julius Thomas.

Thomas will miss the Pro-Bowl due to injury.

Witten, in his 12th NFL season, has appeared in the Pro-Bowl in all but two of his pro seasons (2003, 2011).

The former Vol, who holds the Cowboys record for most career receptions, finished the 2014 season with 64 receptions for 703 yards and five touchdowns. Witten surpassed 10,000 career yards during the 2014 season.

Witten, a man who still holds Tennessee close to his heart (he was on the sidelines for UT’s season opener against Utah State) is undoubtedly one of the greatest Vols to ever play in the NFL. The East Tennessee native’s incredible longevity in a league as physical as the NFL is incredible in its own right.

But to have the success that Witten’s had is something else entirely.

Jason Witten has clearly already reached the peak of his career and he’s on the way down, but the fact that he’s playing in his tenth Pro-Bowl shows that he’s not ready to hang it up just yet.
