Marquez North And Pig Howard Are Great; Other Guys Have To Step Up

It’s nice for Josh Dobbs to have guys like Marquez North and Pig Howard on his side of the ball.

Both of those guys were extremely important on Saturday night and accounted for nearly 70% of Tennessee’s receptions.

While it’s encouraging to get that kind of play from your top two receivers, it’s also very discouraging that other guys didn’t step up when needed.

Tennessee needs guys like Jason Croom and Josh Smith to be more consistent. Smith had a key drop in the first half that essentially killed all of Tennessee’s momentum at that point.

The Vols also need to do a better job of getting Johnathon Johnson involved in the game plan.

Butch Jones and Zach Azzanni have both said they like to have an eight or nine man wide receiver rotation.

In theory that would be nice, but the Vols just don’t have the players to get to that level right now.
