Earlier today it was reported by the Clarksville Leaf Chronicle that Vols linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin was shot in the arm early Sunday morning.
Butch Jones, who was speaking at the Big Orange Caravan stop in Memphis, updated Reeves-Maybin’s status on Monday evening.
The Vols (and more importantly Reeves-Maybin) are very fortunate that this situation didn’t turn out way worse.
Reeves-Maybin was in the wrong place, at the wrong time. Often times those that find themselves in that situation aren’t nearly as lucky.
Fortunately for Reeves-Maybin he was only grazed by the bullet.
The rising sophomore was a key special teams contributor last season and the the Vols will again count on him in that capacity in 2014. He’ll also provide Tennessee with some depth at linebacker this season.
Butch Jones, as he always does, will use this as a teaching point in some way.
Who knows how, but I’m sure he will find a way.
