Vols Recruiting: Torrance Gibson Heading To Tennessee This Weekend

The Vols’ top 2015 recruiting target, five-star quarterback Torrance Gibson, will be in Knoxville this weekend according to his Twitter account.

Gibson alluded to making the trip in his blog for USA Today earlier this week.

The highly touted dual-threat quarterback will be in town for Tennessee’s quarterback camp this weekend.

It’s rumored that former Tennessee graduate assistant Jon Gruden will take part in the camp.

Gruden was last on Rocky Top in April 2012 for the UT coaching clinic.

But Gruden aside, this will be a very important weekend for the Volunteers to impress Gibson. He recently visited Auburn and came away very impressed, enough to describe Auburn as “slightly ahead” of Tennessee at this point.

The Vols have the opportunity to regain any lost momentum with Gibson this weekend. He’s easily Tennessee’s most coveted 2015 recruit and the recent loss of redshirt freshman quarterback Riley Ferguson only intensifies the quarterback need for the Vols.

Gibson, however, is still a long way from committing. He recently told us he plans to commit after his senior season, which means Tennessee has plenty of time to make a lasting impression.

But then again, so does everyone else.

Of Note:

Kengera Daniel, a three-star defensive end from Raleigh, NC (Millbrook) that has an offer from the Vols, will also be in Tennessee for the quarterback camp this weekend.

I’m not sure how a defensive end and a quarterback camp go together, but that’s recruiting for you. None of it usually makes good sense.
