Vols Backing Off Torrance Gibson?
By Zach Ragan
Five-star dual threat quarterback Torrance Gibson has been considered the Vols’ top 2015 target by a lot of folks for quite some time.
But that might not be the case anymore.
Gibson’s reaction to a fan seems to indicate the same thing as what Barton Simmons is reporting.
It looks like that tweet has since been deleted, but it was captured by Tennessee Sports Radio’s Andrew Darago.
The Vols recently received a commitment from 2015 quarterback Quinten Dormady.
Dormady, a four-star pro-style quarterback, makes Gibson a little less of a priority.
I’m sure the Vols are still recruiting Gibson. He’s one of the top 2015 athletes in the nation, but it doesn’t look like they are quite as in love with him as they were a couple of months ago.
Gibson, who didn’t respond to text messages for this story, recently named the Vols as his leader.
The Florida native also suggested that he could be moving his commitment date up.
Gibson has previously told us that he plans to commit after his senior season. There’s no word on when that decision date will now take place.
There’s a lot of noise surrounding Gibson and his recruitment right now. After it’s all said and done I think he ends up at Auburn.
And that might not upset the Vols too much.
Afterall, the Vols don’t play Auburn again until 2018 — Gibson’s potential senior season.
