Two of the Vols’ top 2015 commits made significant jumps in 247Sports’ latest overall ratings.

Tennessee commit Preston Williams, a 6’4″/191 lb wide receiver from Hampton, GA (Lovejoy), moved up to the 19th overall player in the country, but he is no longer rated as the top receiver in the nation. That spot is now taken by Clemson commit Deon Cain.

The big mover in 247Sports’ latest ratings is defensive tackle Kahlil McKenzie.

The 6’4″/341 lb McKenzie, who is from Concord, CA (Clayton Valley), vaulted from tenth to second in 247Sports’ overall ratings. He was also recently revealed as the top overall player in Scout’s latest ratings.

McKenzie committed to Tennessee on July 10.

These two players are the cornerstone of the Vols’ 2015 recruiting class.

McKenzie is a stud defensive tackle that will make an instant impact on defense, while Williams is a talented wide receiver that can be used to lure the nation’s top quarterbacks to Rocky Top.

Butch Jones has the future in Knoxville looking very bright and he could be looking at his second straight year with a top ten recruiting class.

If he keeps his torrid recruiting pace up, it won’t be long before Tennessee is once again competing for SEC championships.
