Fight Breaks Out After Mychal Rivera Gets Leveled (Video)

It’s been my opinion, for quite some time, that joint practices between NFL teams aren’t the best idea.

This week’s joint practice held between the Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys is a prime example of why.

A large scuffle broke out when former Tennessee Volunteers (and current Raider) tight end Mychal Rivera was absolutely trucked by Cowboys defensive back Morris Claiborne.

Claiborne hit Rivera with a ferocity that you don’t typically see in pre-season games, let alone a practice.

Whether it was appropriate or not is a completely different issue.

The reaction it invoked, however, is why I believe these practices aren’t a good idea. From Claiborne strutting around like he had just made a game saving tackle, to the the Raider that decided he didn’t care for the reaction, it was all negative.

Sure, there are often-times fights among teammates during training camp, but that’s in-house. That’s to be expected. It’s part of the team building process.

For what it’s worth, you can’t tell from the video how involved Rivera was in the altercation.

But you can see former Vol wide receiver Denarius Moore right in the middle of the ruckus.

Check out the video for yourself.
