Alvin Kamara — Running Back

5’11″/195 lbs

Status: Enrolled

The Vols had a mass exodus of running backs this past season.

True freshman Treyvon Paulk was removed from the team before he ever had a chance to contribute, while fellow true freshman Derrell Scott decided to transfer after an injury-riddled 2014 season.

The Vols are also losing redshirt junior running back Justus Pickett and senior running back Marlin Lane.

Suffice it to say, running back depth isn’t a strong point on the Vols’ roster right now.

But quality over quantity, right?

What the Vols lack in numbers, they more than make up for in talent.

We all saw what Jalen Hurd was capable of last season (if you didn’t, then spoiler: he’s pretty good).

In 2015, Hurd will get some help.

Former Alabama signee Alvin Kamara is already enrolled at Tennessee and will go through spring practice with the team. The four-star JuCo running back will instantly give the Vols a ridiculous one-two punch at running back.

There’s no doubt that Kamara will see extensive playing time in 2015. His presence will help to alleviate some of the pressure from Hurd, while giving the Vols another highly dangerous offensive weapon.

Of all the newcomers that Tennessee will roll out in 2015, Kamara could easily make the biggest impact.
