Vols Recruiting: Austin Kendall Enjoys Visit To Tennessee

2016 four-star Vols quarterback commit Austin Kendall was in Knoxville this past weekend for the first time since Tennessee hired Mike DeBord as the team’s new offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach.

Kendall, who recently received a scholarship offer from Auburn, is considered one of the Vols’ “shaky” 2016 commits — due mostly to the the recent depth that Tennessee has built at quarterback

The good news for Vol fans is that the visit appeared to go very well. Kendall specifically pointed out that he enjoyed his time with DeBord.

Kendall, 6’2″/205 lbs from Waxhaw, NC (Cuthbertson High School), also recently visited Kentucky, his second visit to Lexington since the beginning of October.

While Tennessee has undoubtedly stocked up at the quarterback position (Tennessee signed three quarterbacks in their 2015 recruiting class), we all know that you can never have enough quarterbacks on your roster.

Kendall, who 247Sports rates as the eighth best 2016 pro-style quarterback in the nation (and the sixth best overall 2016 player in the state of North Carolina), is a player that Tennessee needs to sign in 2016.

You never know how a quarterback will perform at the collegiate level. UT finally has some talent at the position, but only one of their quarterbacks that will be on the roster in 2015 has ever played in a college game (Josh Dobbs).

Kendall isn’t a certain thing either, but his 4,461 passing yards and 49 passing touchdowns as a high school junior certainly seem to indicate he’s primed to make a splash at the next level.
