Mike DeBord Speaks To The Passion Of Tennessee Fans
By Zach Ragan
New Vols offensive coordinator Mike DeBord is quickly learning how to endear himself to Tennessee fans.
Running a successful offense is the best way to make fans happy, but that will have to wait until the fall.
Until then, he’ll have to rely on his words.
On Friday, during an appearance on 104.5 the Zone in Nashville, DeBord used his words to compliment Vol fans, while likely catching the ire of Michigan fans.
That’s quite a claim, considering Michigan is one of the most storied programs in all of college football.
But I think DeBord is absolutely correct.

College football is important in Ann Arbor. The fans are no doubt some of the most passionate in the country, but they aren’t Tennessee fans.
I don’t think there is any fan base in the the country that eats, sleeps and breathes football every single day of the year quite like fans of the Big Orange.
Vol fans are relentless. They don’t get pushed around and they show their pride no matter how good or bad the program happens to be at the moment.
If Mike DeBord is already realizing how passionate Vol fans are, after less than a month on the job, just wait until he takes part in his first Vol walk.
It’ll be an experience unlike any he’s ever had before.
