Former Vol Charles Davis To Call NFL Games This Season
By Zach Ragan
Former Tennessee Volunteers defensive back Charles Davis will be making the move from lead college football analyst for Fox to calling NFL games during the 2015 season.
Sports Illustrated reported this week that Davis will join Thom Brennaman in the booth.
Calling NFL games will not be new territory for Davis. He previously called games for Fox during the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
The Tennessee native told Sports Illustrated that he will have to “brush up on the rules differences between the college and NFL game”.
Davis is fantastic in the studio and in the booth and his perspective as a former player is always welcome.
While it will be fun to see the former Vol back in the booth calling NFL games, it will be unfortunate that we no longer get to hear him opine on his alma mater in an official capacity (though I’m sure he will make sure to point out former Vols now in the NFL).
Sports Illustrated says Davis will be part of either the number three or four broadcast team at Fox.
The team of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman is the consensus number one team, while Kevin Burkhardt and John Lynch make up the number two team.
