Vols Land Four-Star Wide Receiver
By Zach Ragan
You can’t really top landing the top 2017 pro-style quarterback in the country, but the Vols did their best on Monday.
A day after getting a commitment from five-star quarterback Hunter Johnson, the Vols received a commitment from 2017 four-star wide receiver Tee Higgins.
Higgins is a 6’4″/185 lb wide receiver from Oak Ridge, TN (Oak Ridge) that reportedly runs the 40 in 4.56 seconds. He’s rated by 247Sports as the fourth best 2017 player in the state of Tennessee and the eighth best 2017 wide receiver in the nation.
Higgins committed to Tennessee over offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Texas A&M, among several others.
To say that Butch Jones and his coaching staff are on a recruiting roll would be an understatement.
Tennessee is absolutely killing it right now on the recruiting trail. In addition to owning the home-state, they’re going out and getting players that previously didn’t even give the Volunteers the time of day.
Jones wanted to build a solid foundation for Vol football. That’s exactly what he’s done in his first few years on Rocky Top.
Now he’s working on the future and he’s building a roster that should be a perennial top-15 team.
There’s a long way to go until National Signing Day in 2017, but Jones has proved he can keep a class together.
You never know what will happen, but the 2017 class is shaping up to be one of Tennessee’s most extraordinary classes yet.
